Kiss-me-on-the-mountain

touch-me-not balsam

At first I thought this was just a very beautiful little wildflower. Through further research I have discovered that kiss-me-on-the-mountain (Himalayan Balsam) is actually considered an invasive weed species. It was introduced into the UK in 1839, so that the working-class could quickly grow a cheap, beautiful flower garden. The plant species spreads rapidly, and so is now considered an invasive non-native species.
